Scott F. Pries

Mr. Pries is in his twenty-first year of teaching, the past 18 of which as Director of Bands for Imlay City Schools.  His duties include conducting the high school Wind Ensemble and Concert Band, as well as directing the Spartan Marching Band.  He also teaches Sixth, Seventh and Eighth Grade Bands at Imlay City Middle School.  Mr. Pries has earned both a Bachelor of Music Education and a Master of Music degree from Central Michigan University where he studied conducting with Prof. John Williamson, and trumpet with Dr. Dennis Horton.  Mr. Pries has done additional conducting work with Dr. Kevin Sedatole, Dr. James Tapia, and Prof. H. Robert Reynolds.  He has done other postgraduate studies through Oakland University, Michigan State University, and Vandercook College.  He has twice been selected to conduct the East Shore Honors Band in Port Huron, Michigan.  In spring of 2013, he conducted the Sanilac County Middle School Honors Band, and in the spring of 2014 he conducted the Tri-County High School Honors Band hosted at Mayville High School.  Mr. Pries is a member of the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association (MSBOA), of which he is the President for District 3.  Mr. Pries was named Teacher of the Year for 2008-2009 by MSBOA District 3.  Scott and his wife, Collette, live in Lapeer with their two sons, Brandon (15) and Tyler (10).
